Resting in Silence

Life today is very busy. Our culture tells us that we need to be busy to be successful. We are always working or trying to find something to occupy our time. We live in a world where there is always something to grab our attention. When we have nothing to do, we have the world at our fingertips with our phones. We need to be bored. We need to rest. We need to rest in God!

Our lives are so loud. We, as humans, do not enjoy silence. Even during our worship time, we need a song playing. I really started opening to the idea of no lyrics worship music recently. Just keys. At one service, while visiting a church that used keys, I got a word immediately for a woman that was suffering from not having forgiveness about divorce. Even then, just silence is what I need sometimes. All I want to hear is the voice of my Father. I want to hear the guidance of the Holy Spirit. A lot of us need to rest in silence! Resting in silence will allow you to hear His voice. You will know when it is him. When there is no outside voice to influence you, you can rest assured it’s the voice of God you are hearing!
